In 2025 the DMO “La Francigena e le Vie del Gusto in Tuscia” won the Lazio Region’s call “Promoting the tourist appeal of the regional territory” (Regional Council Resolution no. 445 of 12 June 2025) with the project Radici in Cammino (“Roots on the Way”). Its aim is to strengthen the identity of the territory and make Tuscia known as a destination, in Italy and abroad, starting from the stories, memory and traditions of its communities.
A blog tour in Tuscia
From 9 to 13 December 2025 the DMO hosted a blog tour across the territory. One of the stops was the Bosco del Sasseto in Torre Alfina, in the municipality of Acquapendente: one of the most surprising and dreamlike places in Tuscia, a wood that looks as if it came straight out of a fairy tale. The creators of Amici di Valigia then shared Acquapendente on their social channels.

A storytelling walk in Viterbo
On Saturday 13 December Viterbo hosted a storytelling walk, starting from Piazza San Pellegrino and winding through the lanes of the San Pellegrino and Pianoscarano districts. Written and performed by Pietro Benedetti, Michela Benedetti and Emorossi Rossi, with Pietro Benedetti, director and actor, in the role of Alfio Pannega, a much-loved Viterbo character: true stories, popular figures, legends handed down over time, verses in ottava rima and traditional music. The walk ended at the Frantoio Il Paradosso, with a moment dedicated to Mario Matteucci, the olive mill’s long-time keeper.

“Tuscia: its people, its memory”
On Friday 19 December 2025 the University of Tuscia hosted, at the Complesso di San Carlo in Viterbo, the conference “Tuscia: la sua gente, la sua memoria” (“Tuscia: its people, its memory”), the last event of Radici in Cammino, devoted to the Viterbo diaspora, archives, nicknames and stories of departures and returns. The programme, moderated by Ivana Pagliara, lecturer in French language and culture and co-founder of PromoTuscia, included these talks:
- Anna Caprarelli, teacher at the IIS in Bassano Romano: “The Tuscia diaspora. Viterbo presences in the State Archives”;
- Gianluca Braconcini, local history expert: “Viterbo nicknames: origins, anecdotes and life experiences”;
- Marco D’Aureli, anthropologist with the cultural association Comunità Narranti: “Valentano In&Out. A century of departures and returns”, a project carried out for the Municipality of Valentano and the Museum of the Prehistory of Tuscia and of the Rocca Farnese.

The conference also launched an invitation to people and families from Tuscia who now live in other Italian regions and abroad: to build together a digital community devoted to the roots, memory and identity of the territory.
