In the heart of the Viterbo area of Tuscia, the village of Canino came alive with the celebration of its 63rd Olive Festival, an event that not only showcases the region’s liquid gold but also reinvigorates the cultural soul of this captivating corner of Italy.
The Olive Festival, an annual event held from 8 to 10 December, is more than just a celebration: it’s a living stage that tells the story of Canino and its unbreakable bond with olive growing. Now in its 63rd edition, this festival is a source of pride for the local community, celebrating not only the harvest but also the continuity of traditions handed down from generation to generation.

At the heart of this lively event is Canino DOP extra virgin olive oil, a product distinguished by its emerald-green colour and intensely fruity aroma reminiscent of freshly picked olives. Its flavour is robust and distinctive, with a bitter, peppery finish that seduces the palate. This oil is not just a condiment, but a true symbol of Canino’s gastronomic culture.

The streets of Canino turned into a kaleidoscope of colours and sounds. Decorated market stalls, street performers, historical re-enactments and wine cellars created a festive atmosphere where young and old came together to celebrate. Without doubt, the highlight of the festival was the chance to taste Canino DOP oil in a variety of ways, both on traditional dishes and classic bruschetta.

As the lights of the 63rd Olive Festival fade, the echo of its spirit remains.
If you couldn’t make it this year, mark your calendar for the next one: Canino awaits you with open arms.
