In 2020, the Lazio Region launched an ambitious initiative to revitalise and promote local tourism by building structured tourism systems. This project led to the creation of the DMO (Destination Management Organization) called “La Francigena e le Vie del Gusto in Tuscia”. This organisation aims to create an unprecedented collaboration between public and private bodies across Tuscia and the Lazio Maremma, focusing on two key strands: the Via Francigena route and local food and wine culture.
The DMO represents an extraordinary opportunity to strengthen local identity and cohesion, promoting ethical and sustainable tourism development. The project involves 22 municipalities and 45 businesses along the Via Francigena from Proceno to Monterosi, working together to improve the management and organisation of the area.
